STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application. 



Hi! My name is Sheldon and I'm looking for something called a "family!" My foster mom told me about them and I think it sounds perfect!



I used to live at this place called animal control and it was really noisy and scary there. I hated it because I was locked up for nearly the entire day in a small cage. Sometimes a nice volunteer would take me outside to go potty but there are lots of other dogs there like me and sometimes there wasn't enough time in the day to let everyone out. I tried everything I could think of to get the attention of the visitors to let me out and maybe take me home, but none of it worked.



I was so thankful when my foster mom took me home because I don't have to live locked up and I get to play and I can go outside whenever I want to. I even have foster siblings to play with.



My foster mom says that I am full of love and would make a perfect pet for an active family. I love riding in the car and she says I'm getting better on my leash. I'm very smart and know some basic commands and I can't wait for my family to teach me more. Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality,

For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
